On March 6 from 2-4pm (EST), HASTAC and The Futures Initiative will continue this semester’s University Worth Fighting For events. In “Global Perspectives on the Fight for Higher Education,” we will share strategies across the globe and highlight the urgent need for abolition and decolonial education. The discussion will (re)focus our collective attention on how the university can be repurposed to serve the larger public towards liberatory ends. After the event, between 4-5pm (EST), HASTAC Scholars Grace Gipson, Roneva Keel, Ali Pearl, Kristopher Purzycki, and Dhanashree Thorat have prepared a Twitter chat where we will focus on questions of colonialism in the classroom, the connection between the university and its surrounding communities, radical pedagogies for social justice, among other things.
